Over the years it has become something of a tradition that the last challenge of the year is played with the Secretary Matt and Head greenkeeper Rob and a win secures the bragging rights for the year. For those of you who don't know Captain Ray that well by the end of the year he will have played over 200 rounds of golf so you won't be surprised that we have had a record number of challenges also.
We would like to thank all the members who have challenged the Captain and I this year, we have had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed all the challenges. The winners are the pair that managed to beat us by the biggest margin and the prize is presented to them on New Year's Day at the Captains Drive In.
I would like to congratulate Ray our Captain on a wonderful golfing year both on and the off course and on how well he has played throughout culminating in his trip with Richard to Turkey last month.

It's time to look after our course
It's that time of year when we need to look after our course. The grass has finally stopped growing which means that there will be very little recovery until the spring. Please be aware of the painted white lines, ropes and hoops that are directing golf traffic away from certain areas on the course. If you can, take even a wider berth to keep away from these heavy traffic areas.
Also when the ground has taken as much rain as we have had recently, everyone makes a pitch mark on the greens, not just the better players. So please take the time to repair your own pitch mark and one other. If we all look after our course now everyone will receive the benefits later.
Steve Struthers - Hole in one
Congratulations to Steve Struthers on his hole in one on Thursday this week.
Steve used his 4 iron at the third hole at the Links which was witnessed by Martin Price.
This was Steve's first hole in one. He receives a bottle of spirit from the club and will be presented with a Hole in One tie on Captains Day next July.
