Dave wins set of Titleist irons...

Congratulations to Dave Tyers who this week collected his new set of AP1 Irons courtesy of Titleist. Dave was lucky enough to have the winning ticket pulled out of the hat in last year's Captains Charity Draw. 

This piece of luck won him a club fitting session at the Titleist national fitting centre at St Ives and a new set of irons.

Thank you to everyone who supported this draw but weren't so lucky.

Protect Our Course 

We have had an encouraging response to our email regarding unrepaired pitchmarks. Several members are pleased to see the Committee taking this problem seriously. There was an initial improvement in the number of pitchmarks but that appears to have been short lived. 

It is essential for all players to realise that almost every shot played into a green will make a pitchmark, even if it is only from 20 or 30 yards. Please find it and repair it. If you are unsure how to correctly repair a pitchmark, click here to view a video demonstration. 

During the winter months it is also essential for golfers to adhere to other basic etiquette on the course in order to protect it for the playing season. We would request the following when playing the course: 

1. Stakes, ropes and/or hoops have been positioned around the course, not to inconvenience players, but to protect areas of the course which are, or have been, subjected to excessive wear and tear. Do not step over, or pull trolleys through, the ropes and hoops. 
2. Trolleys and buggies must not be taken on to greens aprons and/or within 5 yards of any green. 
3. The white lines in front of the greens are there to direct traffic away from the green surrounds. 
4. Trolleys and buggies must not be taken between greenside bunkers and the greens. 

We are all proud of 'our' course and ask that 'all' members help to maintain it to the standard we expect at The Links.

Mixed Foursomes - Pairs - Foursomes Matchplay. Closing Date 7th February 
Family Foursomes - Pairs - Foursomes Matchplay. Closing Date 6th March 
Jubilee Bowl - Singles Matchplay. Closing Date 7th February 
Senior Knockout - Singles Matchplay. 0 - 14 Hcp. Closing Date 14th March 
Junior Knockout - Singles Matchplay. 15 - 28 Hcp. Closing Date 14th March 
Reg Kemp Cup - Singles Matchplay. 60 years +. Closing Date 6th March 
Scratch Knockout - Singles Scratch Matchplay. Closing Date 14th March

 In order for entry to be accepted for all above competitions, players must have completed 3 qualifying cards in 2015 or 3 in 2016 by the closing date of the competition. Please check your handicap record on the Club website or contact the Secretary's office if you are unsure. Good luck.
