Cold Balls!
Titleist's R & D department have recently carried out a report on how temperature impacts the performance of the golf ball. The distance a golf ball travels is greatly affected by cold air. As air becomes colder it increases in density which impacts both on trajectory and distance. In cold air the ball will travel a shorter distance but interestingly also slightly higher. You will not be surprised to read that the temperature of the ball also effects distance. If you play with cold balls the materials in the ball lose some resiliency resulting in a loss of velocity of the clubface.
So the message is clear, keep your golf balls at room temperature, do not leave in the boot of the car overnight and it is also a good idea to rotate a couple of balls during a round keeping the other one in your pocket between holes.
Mizuno drops retail price of graphite shafts in their irons.
Foremost Supplier Mizuno, the Japanese golf equipment manufacturer long renowned for its beautiful, industry-leading forged irons and wedges, has announced a reduction in reatil prices of graphite-shafted irons from February 2016.
We are looking forward to offering the Mizuno range to our customers this Spring at the Links, safe in the knowledge of the quality Mizuno offer. Over 80% of Mizuno's irons purchased are now custom built.
Traditionally golfers have paid more for graphite shafted irons clubs than those opting for steel shafts. This extra charge for graphite shafts has been industry-wide, but from early 2016 Mizuno will simplify its pricing strategy with a radical move to align the price of graphite-shafted irons in line with steel. Mizuno currently do not charge extra for custom steel shafts or grips, so this latest move, effective from 1st February 2016 when the eagerly anticipated new JPX EZ range hits the shelves.
"The aim is to simplify things and ensure that anyone who buys our clubs will find no unexpected hidden extras on their bill. We have decided that the ideal time for this new policy to take effect will be when the much anticipated JPX EZ series hits Europe in February 2016."
New PING G demo Irons in store.
The PING golf company this month are launching a new addition to their club range the New PING G irons and woods. The main improvements that you need to know about are the drivers have improved aerodynamics which has created 37% less drag at impact and the weight on the crown of the club is 8g lighter which has been moved and repositioned the centre of gravity and made it easier to launch the ball higher.
The material in the iron head, due to change in the manufacturing process, is now 40% stronger which allows for a faster ball speed off the clubface at impact. We have in store the demo irons so if you would like to try them out for yourself then book a club fit and we can make sure they are set up correctly for your game.
