Winter finally arrives at The Links.
We finally got a dusting of snow on the course on Monday for the first time this winter.
The course has stood up well and we have been so lucky to be able keep golfing over this period.
What ever happens now with only 5 weeks to Easter and the lighter nights winter is definitely on the way out.
Juniors and the Hartley Bogey.
Half term this week saw a good turn out in the Hartley Bogey competition by some of our hardy junior members.
Congratulations to all who took part and in particular to Henry Hall who was the winner with a magnificent score of +6 edging out Lilly Waters into second spot with her score of score of +3. The next Junior competition is the Junior stableford this Sunday 21st February.
Advertise in this newsletter!
My newsletter is now received by up to 850 golfers weekly and has an open rate averaging around 50% every issue. It is a great vehicle to keep members up to date with everything that is happening at the club, particularly at this time of year when the club is not quite so busy. If you would like to advertise and have a business or service that you feel might be of interest to my members this offer might be of interest. I am offering space for a colour advertisement, banner style, across the full page of the newsletter, similar in size and colour to my header on this email. The advert can be linked with your own website and with one simple click you will be transported straight to it.
I have one package available; the contract will be initially for a 3 month period and will include a weekly insertion in the mail.
As an introductory offer and an added incentive, I will include a FREE lesson each month and 20% discount on personal golf equipment sales for the contract period.
Please find an example above ( CK Foodstores &Car Warehouse).
The cost for your advert will be £35 + VAT per week.

The cold weather and heavy conditions impacts not just on golfers but also their equipment. Golf bags that are over laden add extra stress and load to trollies and batteries shortening their life cycles. This week take the strain from your cart by taking out those 20 extra balls that you are carrying around for no good reason, also take out the spare sweaters and jackets that have been lost for the last 3 months and you will be amazed how this will benefit your carts performance. Better still and taking it to another level why not treat yourself to a new golf bag and battery! Manufacturers are now producing golf bags that are both waterproof and lightweight, for example the new Motocaddy Dry Series bag weighs in at just 2Kg which is at least a whopping 50% lighter than a standard cart bag. If you want to reduce weight even further why not get yourself a lithium battery weighing in at just 2.5 Kg, a third lighter than the standard lead acid battery.
All this will indeed help your trolley but will also help you when you have to load it all back into the boot of your car at the end of your round. To prove the point I was able to persuade both Linda and Janice Mansfield to demonstrate not only their strength but also the lightness of both products in the shop earlier in the week. Come on in and try the lift test for yourself and improve your golf at the same time.
Thank you Linda and Janice for your help.

Mizuno Club Fit Product training
If you have been up at the Pro Shop this week you will have noticed quite an increase in our stock levels with a lot of the Spring deliveries starting to arrive. Part of this Spring delivery has included the arrival of the Mizuno club fitting system. Mizuno have developed the most comprehensive fitting system available to the golfer. We were lucky this week to have Steve Cookson, key account manager for Mizuno along to the shop to deliver some product training for us.
Along with the GC2 launch monitor, now on order the Links Pro Shop will be an exciting place for golfers this year who are looking to improve the performance of their equipment.
