Hello golfers, 

Easter is upon us next week and hopefully if the weather is kind to us a great weekend of golf awaits. Just to remind you that just as last year on Good Friday we are operating a tee booking system to help with the flow of play on an anticipated busy day of golf. Please make sure you book a time on the start sheet on the clubhouse notice board to avoid any disappointment. 

Once again we will be holding our Pro Shop Easter Egg hunt with a twist as in previous years. Anyone finding an egg out on the course and brings it back to the Pro shop will receive a brand new ball.


 

Captain Pro challenge matches

Last Saturday saw the first in the series of the 2016 Captain Pro challenge matches. Husband and wife combination James and Sarah Greenall kicked off the series against the Captain John Tuttle and I and a cracker of a match it was too. 

Fresh from their winter break in Spain both Greenall's were in fine form with their short games in particularly good shape. A big thank to James and Sarah for the challenge and a most enjoyable afternoons golf.

LEGS at Ashridge GC day out 

Both Jonny and I were invited for a days golf at Ashridge GC in Hertfordshire last Friday by members Barry Hall and Alan Jones. The LEGS are a local golf society which has a number of Links members within their number. 

After an early start and a very foggy drive the sun came out to reveal a spectacular clubhouse and great golf course. Past Open champion Henry Cotton was their Club Professional back in the 1930's. 

Thank you Barry and Alan for the invite, hopefully we can join you again for another day later in the year. 

Links Girls and Professionals clear up in Beds & Cambs Pro Am 

The Beds & Cambs PGA Winter series came to visit this week in large numbers with 22 teams competing only to be scuppered to the prizes by Links members and Professionals who cleared up. Local knowledge definitely played a part when Richard Childerley tied first with another Links old boy Ben Kerr in the individual professional prize both shooting 1 under rounds of 71 in cold windy conditions. Richard made it a double celebration when his team made up by Karen Cook, Theresa Locke and Matt Cook also won the team event just pipping Jonny's very experienced all girl team of Marcella Tuttle ,Sarah Greenall and Sarah Reardon into second place on count back.

This weeks Club fitting success 

I was delighted this week to help member Richard Morley gain over 20 yards in extra distance when he came along for a club fitting and assessment session. Using the Mizuno fitting system Richard was able to improve his numbers by changing to a lighter shaft and a more up to date clubhead design which enabled him to increase his ball speed by 10 mph and his overall carry distance by 23 yards. 

I am looking forward to working with Richard this year to help him reach his golfing targets starting with a change of irons.
