Ladies Captain's Charity Day - Tuesday Success at Ladies' Charity Day

A fine day was had by all on Lynn's (Lambert) charity day. The weather was kind and the money poured in! The charities benefiting from the day was Addenbrooke's Breast Cancer Unit and Newmarket Citizen Advice Bureau. All the monies still need to be counted but the raffle alone raised £233.

The winners were as follows: 

1st - Lynn Lambert, Pat Dugdale and Edie Douglas with a net score of 35.8 
2nd - John Tuttle, Ray Bolton and Glenn Lambert - net 36.4 
3rd - Gemma Waterhouse (new lady member), Michael Tebbutt and Colum Sharkey 9no relation) - net36.4 
Nearest the pin on the 9th - Linda Hyde 

John Sharkey organised a fun launch monitor challenge the winner being the person who could guess correctly how far they hit their 7-iron - the winner was Pauline Bond.

Lynn, Edie and Pat looked very glamorous in their pink streaked wigs - just in case you thought they all had new hair doos! Congratulations to everyone especially Lynn for organising the event and to Kirsty, Mary W and Gill D for being amazing helpers and relinquishing everyone of their money. 

   

Final Call -Links GC Charity Day Saturday 21st May 

This week sees our final push to raise monies for the Links GC Charity Day. This is always a great day for the Club and a big fund raising event for the Captains chosen charities. 

There are currently a few places left if you wish to play in the Charity Day Competition, please phone the office or pop into the Club House to find out what times are currently available. 

There is a Silent Auction already in place with auction boards up in the clubhouse and the bidding has already begun! There are some fantastic items to bid on including.....

- 4 Green Fee Vouchers on 40 different courses including Sheringham, East Herts, Royal Worlington, Gog Magog, Flempton, Woodbridge, Northants County, Saffron Walden & Felixstowe. The full list is in clubhouse lounge. 
-  Four tickets to a Chelsea Football Match 
- PING Cadence Adjustable Putter 
- Titleist Vokey 56 Degree Wedge 
- 3 Ball with a member at Walton Heath Golf Club or a 2 ball with a couple 
- £65 voucher for the Red Lion at Cheveley 
- A day at 'At The Races' Studio with Jason Weaver or a day at the races with Jason. 

There will also be a Tombola on the day with fabulous prizes to win. If you have any items for the Auction or the Tombola please bring them along to the Club House before or on the day. 

The Pro's Shop have secured the use of an inflatable practise net that will be positioned beside the clubhouse putting green which we will be running various challenges on our new GC2 launch monitor throughout the day. 

There will be a BBQ for those playing in the Competition, and lots of fun so do come along and join in. We look forward to seeing you here on the day. Even if you can't spare the time to actually play on the day please pop down to the club and get involved in all the fun. 

 

This weeks Scratch League Result - Report Ed Dimambro 

A home tie this week against a relatively unknown March side, who were coming off of a good 4-2 win against Ely City. A good all round performance from the selected team resulted in a 6-0 win which will lift the Links clear at the top of Division 2. We are now sitting on 14 points after 3 games out of a possible 18, an excellent return. Lee Allen is currently the star man with 3 wins from 3. 

Toby Crisp/Lee Allen 7UP, Matt Hartley/David Marris 4UP and Jason Evans/Ed Harper 4UP. 

Next match is away to Ely City on Wednesday 1st June.

 

Milton Sunday's Footy Team 

I turned out for my village Sunday footy team last weekend. You might have guessed, but it was the last game of the season and they were a man down and desperate. I have to say though it didn't take too much persuasion to get me kitted up and out on the pitch, something I haven't done for many a year. Many of you who know me, know I am a footy fan and as such, you won't be surprised to read II had a great time. Making it a doubly special occasion though was playing in the same team as my two sons Jonny and Nick . I won't mention the score but I have to say I found walking and moving rather challenging for a couple of days afterwards.

Dave Marris one of our junior members who stands at about 5'8" tall weighing less than 10 stone wet through, must not be underestimated. Below is a picture of his ball after his drive lying next to the pin on the 16th green in just one shot, yes just one shot!!. He then proceeded to hole the putt for an eagle 2 an accomplishment I'm not sure has been achieved before.
