Cambridgeshire Mens County Championships- The Gog Magog GC
Seven members from our scratch team at The Links represented the club in The County Championships last weekend at The Gog Magog GC. This is a 72 hole event played over two days and this year over a very demanding golf course. Although just outside the prizes Ed Dimambro, our Scratch Team Captain was our best placed player in 9th position with scores of 76,72,77 &73. Jason Evans was just behind Ed in 10th spot scoring 75,79,69 & 79 and was one of only four players to beat par over the weekend. A special mention should also be made of David Marris in 11th spot. David opened up his tournament with a 14 over par 84 in the first round only then to play probably the most consistent golf of anyone in the field dropping just 8 further shots over the next 54 holes. 84,73,72 &73. Congratulations to James Reason from Brampton Park won the event for the third time , and is already favourite for next years event as it is scheduled at his home course.
Ladies and Gents Fashions for 2017
On Tuesday Linda and I were at Bishops Stortford GC placing our clothing order for Spring/Summer 2017. Orders need to be placed at least 6 months in advance. As you can see Linda was in her element.
U.S. Open at Oakmont
The U.S. Open starts this week at Oakmont and judging by some reports the course will be a tough test for the Worlds best golfers. In 1953, the first time the Open was played at Oakmont, Titleist was the ball that most competitors played and now 68 years on Titleist is still the number one ball. To commemorate this achievement Titleist have produced a special limited edition ball with the number '68' stamped on it. We have been allocated just 6 dozen of these balls and we are limiting them to just 1 dozen per customer.
The Great Links Fun Run 5k
Just a reminder that the Great Links Fun Run is almost upon us, Sunday 10th July. This event has been arranged to raise funds for Addenbrookes Breast Cancer Appeal. The course will be a designated route around the golf course and although we are calling it a run, don't let that put you off as you can walk depending on your levels of fitness. You are required to fill in an entry form which is available from office, bar or Pro shop with the entry fee is £5 payable to the Secretary, Bar or Pro Shop. Closing date for entry will be 26th June. We need your support for this very worthy cause.
