Mens Club Championships
The Links Men's Club Championships on Sunday attracted 66 competitors for the 36 hole challenge to become the Scratch and Handicap Champion golfer for 2016. The course was set up beautifully and added to the good weather conditions some low scoring was expected. Mark Bloxham and Tom Sharp didn't disappoint. Mark won the Scratch title for the first time with a 1 over par 145 total for his 36 holes. Playing off a scratch handicap Mark shot a 76 in the morning followed by a best of the day gross 69 in afternoon to win the title by 2 shots from morning leader Ed Dimambro on 147 (70 + 77 = 147).
The handicap Champion was Tom Sharp who shot a nett 133 (11 under) for his two rounds which gave him a winning margin of 7 shots from Steven Debenham in second place.
Congratulations also to Jimmy Thompson on winning the High handicap Ennion Salver on Saturday with 38 points.
Other notable scores on the day came from:
Scratch scores- John Maddock AM gross 72, Sampson Marino AM gross73, Ed Harper AM gross73, Toby Crisp PM gross 69, Matt Hartley PM gross 71.
Handicap scores- Adam Dyer AM nett 68, Darren Livesey AM nett 67, Phil Neal PM nett 68,
Congratulations to all that took part.

Look after Your Course
Playing the course on Tuesday after work was a real pleasure, it was a lovely Summers evening and the course was in fantastic condition. However on playing the 4th hole we were disappointed to come across a greenside bunker that someone had been in and not raked or repaired. This is just a little reminder that so many people work hard to present us with a golf course to be proud of and it is vital that we all take care of it for the enjoyment of everyone. OK rant over!
Ladies Day out to Ladies British Open
Last Saturday it was extremely quiet day down at the club as 23 of our lovely lady members went on a day out to watch the Ladies British Open at Woburn.
The coach left The Links very early on and to get everyone in the mood the day started with a rules quiz, this was followed by some amazing golf and finished off with a good old sing along for the journey home.
A great day was had by all.
The Links Pro-Am
Next Thursday 11th August the club is hosting its annual Pro-Am event. We will be welcoming about 30 of the top playing professionals from the PGA East Region circuit. This is always a popular event and one the East Region Pro's look forward to. There will also be about 90 amateurs joining them and making a real fun occasion.
The course will be closed on the day to members but if you want to see some sparkling golf then why not come along and witness for yourself how the Pro's tackle the course that you are so familiar with. Everyone welcome.
