I had the pleasure of meeting Mark Littlejohn this week who is serving with the USAF at Lakenheath.
Mark came over to be custom fitted and have the loft and lie changed on his clubs. Having just returned from a term of duty in Iraq, he has been stationed at Lakenheath for 3 ½ years. He was telling me that this weekend when The Links will be sending a team over to Lakenheath for the annual club match it will be the 7th time he has played against us.
This fixture which was first played in 1969 has been a regular event in recent times and is always played in a great spirit with wonderful hospitality and respect shown by both club and USAF to each other.
Not wishing any ill will on the club but I hope Mark has a good game with his new clubs.
Will Off To Australia For A Year
Will Conlon member here The Links and who many of you will know from his time working behind the bar has decided to go on a gap year and is heading to Australia.
The past Scratch team player will be missed by many of his friends at The Links but we know he will have a fabulous time down in Aus.
We wish him all the best and he will be missed by everyone here.
David Orwell - Hole in One
David continued his good form this week when he had a hole in one whilst playing for the club in a match held at the Gog Magog.
Partnering our Captain David Smith he managed to hole his tee shot at the Par 3 14th on the Wandlebury course which not only helped them win their own match but also helped the team go on to win the overall game.
I understand it was a rather expensive bar bill but well worth it. Well done David.
If you've had a hole in one get in touch by clicking here and you could feature in next weeks newsletter.
