The Junior Vice Captain, 13 year old Max Weaver has the responsibility of organising Junior Charity Day on 26th October. Max has chosen the "Niamh Henry Wish Fund" as his charity. The charity was set up in memory Niamh Henry, a local girl who tragically lost her battle with cancer and died just before her 4th birthday. The aim of the fund is to provide funds/items for the children's cancer unit at Addenbrookes and provide counselling for bereaved families.
The day involves a golf competition (Texas Scramble) with men, ladies and juniors joining together in teams of three. The entry sheet is in the lobby of the clubhouse. There is also a silent auction and raffle leading up to the event.
You can support the event in various ways either entering the competition, hole sponsorship, donations of prizes for the raffles or if you are unable to join in on the day itself you can make a donations (cheque) made payable to The Links GC. Good luck Max we all hope you have a great day.
Fourball Supper Comp
The prize giving at this weekends Mens Fourball competition proved a little awckward for Captain John Tuttle. It doesn't happen that often but Captain John had to present the winning sweep monies to himself and his playing partner Mark Canham. Their winning total of 46 points spreadeagled the field.
Well done to you both.
Juniors just miss out.
Our Junior team just missed out last week on winning the CAGU Junior League when they lost to the eventual winners St Neots GC at St Neots. The club is very proud of your efforts. It was a great team effort on the day. The team was as follows: Lily Waters, Dan Wiseman, Dan Knight, Tyler Weaver, Teddy Hall and Declan Noone.
We must have one of the youngest Junior teams in the league and although we missed out this year the team all gained valuable experience for the future. Well done everyone.
Course Improvements
Along with a couple of other projects on the course next week you will see that the putting green outside the Pro Shop is having a facelift. It is to be made slightly bigger and will have a few subtle borrows added. Please give priority to green staff whilst all the work is carried out and apologies in advance for any inconvenience caused whilst the team carry out the changes. As in previous years we will have Paul and his wonderful digger back to help Rob and his men continue with our on course improvement programme.
