Links Ladies Pro Shop Pro AmIn sunny conditions last Saturday in the third event in the series of our Links Pro Shop Pro Ams it was the turn of the Ladies Section. Richard, Jonny and myself were joined by 9 lady members creating 3 teams of four. In a fourball betterball format with a 1 under par score of 83 over the 10 holes, Richard's team made up by Dawn Rahman, Dorothy Milham and Jill Durantt won by a margin of 3 shots from Jonny's team, Carol Wigham, Gill Pollington and Lynda Kilkelly. The format has proved very successful and great fun, and we would like to thank our ladies section for supporting the event. The next Pro Shop Pro Am we will be inviting members from the NAGS section to join us,dates to follow.
Hit it further with a hybrid
Recent tests on my launch monitor have shown that the ball comes off the clubface much faster from a hybrid club than a long iron.
What does this mean to you?
Well firstly it is much easier to flight the ball and get good trajectory from any type of lie either off the tee or from the fairway with this increased ball speed. Plus you will also be able to get good distance even when the conditions are cold and damp. Click here to send me an email if you would like to book a free fitting today and see this increased ball speed for yourself.
Cambridge United
I had a great Sunday at Wembley last weekend watching Cambridge United gain promotion and get back into the Football League proper. Along with David Anderton, a Links member and around 12,000 other Cambridge supporters the U's get back after a 9 year absence. Up the U's.
Wentworth - PGA Championships
This week sees the European Tour come to Britain for the first time this year with the staging of the BMW PGA Championships over the West Course at Wentworth. This will also be the first time for a number of years that I am sorry to say I will not be in attendance. I always look forward to this event which is the biggest tournament outside of a Major in Europe and attracts all the top European players, including a number now based in America. The other aspect to the event that also appeals is the fact that 3 of the East Regions club Pro's are playing this year. Mark Hooper, Ian Ellis and Jason Levermore. These Pros have all at one time or another over the years played here at the Links in our own Pro Am, so keep an eye out for them.
