Greetings golfers,
Winter is coming
The weather is beginning to turn colder this week and the reality of the Winter golf is now upon us. Make sure your prepared to play your best, whether it is just a handwarmer to stop losing all feeling in your hands or waterproof shoes to keep your feet dry and comfortable in the damp due for all you early morning starters.
The Pro Shop is all set up to help you keep playing your best and staying comfortable on the course at this time of year.
Spooky Halloween
I know we have just had Halloween and strange things can happen at this time of year but something very unusual happened to Eddie Clarke last week. Whilst playing with Martin Ibbitt on the 28th October on an away day at Temple GC near Maidenhead, Eddie had a hole in one.
This was his second ace and came at the 13th hole using his 8 iron. You may think there isn't anything particularly strange in the story so far but his first ace was 4 years ago and on the same date 28th October, what a coincidence. Congratulations Eddie.
FOG
At this time of year play on the course is often interrupted by fog. To clarify the Club's policy with regard to safety for all, please find listed below our procedure for closing the tees.
1 Course to be closed by Secretary,Professional or Greenstaff, when the second left hand fairway bunker on the 1st hole from the tee is not visible. This is a guide rather than a rule.
2 Course closure signs to displayed on the 1st and 11th tees.
3 Players already on the course must stop playing if they cannot see where their ball lands. The club cannot be held responsible for players who continue to play in dangerous conditions.
4 Players are not permitted to walk down to 11th tee when course is closed.
Club Fitting is for everyone.
Last week we had a visit from the current CAGU Senior Champion, Kevin Diss. Kevin, who plays off a 1 handicap also narrowly missed out, in a play-off, to qualify for this year's British Senior Open at Carnoustie in July. In his search to get the most from his game he is looking at changing his irons in readiness for the 2017 season. In his new irons he was looking for more distance and to fill a couple of gapping issues that existed in the longer clubs. We had a great session and I was pleased to be able to help him in both areas. Hamish Fleming, was also on hand passing on some of his vast experience to a much younger golfer.
Good luck Kevin for your 2017 campaign.
