End of Season on European tour 

It has been another successful season on the men's European Tour. Although the result at the Ryder Cup wasn't what we were hoping for it didn't dent what has been a standout year. With two major winners in Danny Willett and Henrik Stenson, Rory winning $11 million at the Fed Ex Cup on the PGA tour and Henrik, who will surely be player of the year winning the Race to Dubai just last week, the tour goes from strength to strength. 

At another level, congratulations must go to local professional Paul Maddy from the Gog Magog GC. Last weekend Paul secured full playing rites for next season by finishing tied 11th at Q School in Spain. He has been in a rich vein of form recently and regained his card that he lost back in the 2015 season. 

Paul has been a regular supporter of a number of events locally over the years so please keep a look out for his progress and results next year.

 

CAGU Junior coaching at The Links 

Last weekend we welcomed the CAGU Junior team for some Coaching to the Links. These youngsters are some of the most talented Juniors from golf clubs in the Cambridgeshire area. 

The programme of coaching has been initiated by CAGU to help future youngsters become involved in golf and to help develop and prepare them for county golf in the future. 

Jonny has been working with the County for two years now and this winter is the first time that we have hosted them at Newmarket. 

 

Finally after 62 years. 

Alistair Davidson is, if nothing, a very persistent golfer and after 62 years of playing the game has finally had a hole in one. Playing with Simon Burton on Wednesday afternoon Alistair holed his tee shot at the 12th hole at The Links. Using his 6 iron and with the hole close to the front of the green and protected by the left hand bunker, Alistair's tee shot landed straight in the cup without a bounce. I was playing in the group in front and Alistair caught up with me on the 15th hole to inform me of his success.
