Ladies Christmas Social
It was great to see so many of our lady members getting into the Christmas spirit on Tuesday this week. It wasn't just the obligatory festive sweater on show but there were: flashing fairy lights, tinsel, flashing earrings and hats - everyone looked fab!. Playing in the Christmas social 54 ladies took part in a Texas Scramble made up of teams of 3 for this 10 hole event.
The winners were Sarah Greenall, Jane Blake and Avril Matthews with nett 35.2.
2nd - Maureen Howes, Jude Hole and Paula Green.
3rd - Karen Cook, Trish Davis and Linda White
4th - Claire Tuttle, Di Parr and Jean Johnstone
5th - Di Merchant, Valerie Parsley and Marcella Tuttle
Nearest the pin on the 9th - Di Merchant
If you lost a furry hat it has been handed into the Pro Shop.
Hole in One for Roger
Roger Smith gave himself an early 80th birthday present on Wednesday this week.
Using his 5 wood Roger had an ace with his tee shot at the 9th hole.
His feat was enjoyed by all his playing partners who helped him celebrate in the clubhouse after the round.
Well done Roger.
Join us for some Mulled Wine and Mince Pies.
The team would like to show off their Christmas jumpers once again this year and invite you to join us at the Pro Shop for some mulled wine and festive goodies this weekend and in the lead up to the big day.
Ball Fitting
This week we have carried out some research on golf ball spin rates with our launch monitor and it has proved very interesting. If you want to reduce the amount of slice on your shots or if you are looking to increase your ball flight it might be as easy as changing the ball you use.
We compared two balls from the same stable, the Titleist Pro V1 and Titleist NXT Tour and found that the NXT ball spun about 10% less. How could this be useful for you? If you are looking for optimum distance from the tee then a desirable spin rate for a driver is in the region of 2500-3000 rpm's . If you are spinning it more than this you will be losing distance, and it is not a case of trying to hit it harder because the likelihood is, you will just spin the ball even more.
On the other hand if you have a slow swing speed and a low spin rate this might affect the trajectory or flight of your shots. A higher spinning ball would be helpful to increase your flight. If you would like a ball fitting then please contact us and book an appointment.
The charge for this is £20 and includes a tube of 3 balls in which we recommend for you.
