Record Entry For The Members Stakes

It was good to see so many members out over the Easter break really enjoying their golf. We had a record entry in the Good Friday Members Stakes competition with 125 golfers competing in this mixed event. Congratulations to Theresa Locke on winning the magnificent Members Stakes trophy with a winning score of 40 points.

Theresa's round culminated with a gross birdie on her last hole for 4 points, contributing to her count back win. The Members Stakes trophy was presented in 1996 by Sam and Helen Maddocks and they very kindly give a replica of the trophy to the best score for a lady and a gentleman. The overall winner gets presented with the main trophy.

Well played Theresa.

Other Notable Achievements Over the Weekend

11 golfers shared a record £224 in the twos club on Friday with John Fuller holing out with a full shot 3 wood for his share at the 8th hole.

Our annual Easter egg hunt went down well with everyone once again this year, although there are still two eggs still out there.

Langley Shield

On Bank Holiday Monday 44 turned out in the bright but cold blustery conditions to play in the Langley Shield. This is a mixed foursomes event which ended with three pairings on 37 points.

Sian Moss and Omar Aziz won on countback and took the trophy from Chris & Linda White and Marcella & John Tuttle.

A lovely day was had by all.

Linda's Favourite Day Of The Year

The annual Ladies Spring Open was played on Tuesday this week with 104 ladies from 26 clubs around the region competing. A fun team event and always a very popular day with visitors and is always oversubscribed with a waiting list. Lesley Ellis and Jude Hole did a fantastic job organising the event.

We owe a huge thank you to the army of helpers who turned up looking so smart in their club uniforms including Lesley McAllister, Karen Cook, Marcella Tuttle for registering the players and Kirsty Guthrie for wearing the flags and selling the raffle tickets! The raffle took a staggering £390 (minus cost of prizes) for our selected charities The Pancreatic Research Fund and Prostate Cancer UK.

The Pro Shop and in particular Linda always look forward to this day as it gives us an opportunity to show off our ladies clothing section, which all the ladies seem to enjoy. Maybe it could be the fact we ply the ladies with bucks fizz and chocolates, I'm not sure which?

Guy Wins £500 Playing Over The Easter Weekend

Guy Westcott won £500 when he aced at the 3rd hole playing in the Saturday Stableford over Easter. 

Guy holed out with his 6 iron for his first ever hole in one which was witnessed by playing partners Martin Price and Nick Crozier.
