Charity Day
The Links held its annual Charity Golf Day Competition last Saturday. Over 200 members and guests took part in this fundraising fun day. Events which took place included the Charity Challenge, BBQ, Auction of various items including green fee vouchers for other golf clubs. There was also a tombola, pot of gold and putting challenge. The weather stayed mostly dry which lead to an enjoyable day.
The Club has hosted a Charity Day for the last 30 years, supporting the charities chosen by the current Captains and around £195,000 has been raised during this time. A good amount has been raised this week, watch this space for the actual amount; we are still counting!
This year the registered charities are:
Prostate Cancer UK: Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in men, causing 11,000 deaths per year in the UK.
Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund: Pancreatic Cancer is one of the most challenging cancers to confront as it is difficult to detect symptoms in the early stages. It is also a cancer that quickly develops resistance to the traditional chemotherapy drugs.
All proceeds from Charity Day will be divided between the charities.
We have received generous support from our members, visitors and local businesses for which we are extremely grateful. Thank you to everyone who helped to make the day a great success.
Many thanks to all the members on the day who helped man the various events on the course and in the clubhouse. Also, a big thank you to The NAGS who manned the BBQ and helped with refreshments at the cabin on the 11th.

Hole in One Alert
Early on Monday morning Dan Clements got his week off to very good start. Dan, playing at 7am before work, had his first hole in one at the 9th. In cold damp conditions Dan using his 8 iron watched his ball land softly on the green and roll into the cup for his first ever ace.
He has been in a rich vein of form recently having also qualified in last week's Medal to join me in the Lombard Trophy, a national Pro Am competition being played at Kings Lynn later in the year.
Well played Dan.
