In the Reynolds Salver (Handicap), David Bloxham (handicap 14) had a day to remember with nett scores of 67 & 71 for a total of 138, which won the Salver by an impressive five shots. Runner-up was Oliver Kirk (143) followed by Ian Clark (144) in third.

There were also prizes for the best morning (gross and nett) and best afternoon (gross and nett), and the winners were Chris Brown, John Chambers, Christian Puttock and Paddy McConville.

The Ennion Salver, for members with handicaps 19-28, was played on Saturday with Mark Payne (handicap 26) scoring 40 points to win the Stableford event, with junior member Oliver Quinn in second with 37 points.

After play an evening meal for all the contestants was enjoyed in the clubhouse when Men’s Captain, Kevin McDonnell presented the winners with their prizes and congratulated the Head Greenkeeper on the magnificent condition of the golf course.

Liz Butcher AM-AM

We had a great turnout for our re-scheduled Liz Butcher AM AM event. The weather behaved itself - sort-of - with only a few showers now and again. 64 ladies played the fun team event.

The winners with a great score of 121 were Pat Dugdale, Phoebe Brown, Di McDonnell & Jill Durrant. There's hope for us yet as I'm sure Jill won't mind me saying, but she's an octogenarian and looking at the card she certainly contributed to the score. In 2nd place was Karen Cook, Teresa Locke, Lynn Lambert and Beryl Suttle with 114 pts. In 3rd place Pat Wallace, Yada Adams, Christa Wood and Ann Russell.

Congratulations to all the winners. Many thanks to Margaret Butcher who organised the competition which is one of the most popular competitions of the year. Many thanks also to the ladies who made the delicious cakes which were devoured with a cup of tea at the presentation.

Ladies Past Captains’ competition

Well done to Sarah Greenall for winning the Past Captains’ Mavis Blackwell Trophy with 38 points. She won on countback from Marian Earle. As is the custom, last year's winner, which was Jackie Casburn, presented the trophy to the new winner. The competition was followed by lunch which 26 Past Captains attended. Mavis Blackwell was Ladies' Captain in 1968 and Past Captain's Thelma McGregor and Joyce Watson reminisced about their friend to all the ladies present.
