Jazz On The Lawn

Our 'Jazz On The Lawn' event was an amazing success with over 100 members enjoying the sounds of 'Rance's Rocking Chair Band'. The sun shone all day and the guests and members seemed to have great fun listening, dancing and having a few drinks by the clubhouse.

The food from the BBQ sold out and everyone seemed to have a great time. Many thanks to Kevin who organised the whole event and he should be applauded for his culinary skills as chief chef.

JJ Golf

Jonny has JJ Golf back at The Links on Thursday 24th August with the number one software in putting analysis. They have 4 sessions from 4:30pm onwards, so if you want to hole putts look no further.

Juniors – St Ives Cup

Last Friday the Junior Team had the long drive to Thorpe Wood playing in the semi final of the St Ives Cup. The team consisted of Max Weaver, Dan Wiseman, Teddy Hall, Tyler Weaver and George O’shea.

Once again it came down to the last match and in which Dan Wiseman & George O’shea found themselves 2 down with 3 holes to play. On the final green Dan was facing a 10ft putt to half the match and force a play off, in which he holed. Once again, the quality of golf was sublime from both teams.

Both teams found trouble on the first play off hole and the hole was halved. The second hole Dan and George missed the green right and the Thorpe Wood boys capitalised and hit a great iron shot to 5ft to clinch the match and book a place in the final at St Ives. Jonny was over watching the match and said;

“Again the Links Junior Team showed their class and their ability to compete against the top teams in the county and they are already looking forward to competing again next season and making a quest for silver in 2018. This month’s matches would have taught the guys a lot and they will learn from this experience.”

Well done guys, you’re a credit to the club!

Ladies Invitation Day

We had beautiful weather for our Invitation Day on Tuesday, a total of 68 ladies played with guests from 18 different clubs from as far afield as Kent, Surrey and Cheshire.

45 points was the winning score from Sarah Reardon & Gill Andrews from the Gogs, with Phoebe Brown & Sue Meadows (Hunstanton) in 2nd with 43. 3rd place was taken by Linda White & Gwen Dixon (Thetford) with 42 points on count back from 3 other pairs. Nearest the pin for visitors was Julie Aspinall (Ely) and for members Mary Walsh.

Many thanks go to the organisers Sarah Reardon & Ann Low, and to the many helpers including all of the ladies who made the fabulous cakes and savouries for the halfway houses, not forgetting our starters, the very dapper Kevin & Hamish!
