Genus Cup The now annual Gents vs Ladies match, the Genus Cup, was played last Sunday. This new event is played in a Ryder/Solheim Cup style team format and this year 28 of our lady members took on 28 men in what has become a competitive, but more importantly most enjoyable occasion.
The ladies got off to a great start winning 13 points in the foursomes out of 14. They didn’t fair so well in the four-ball matches losing 7½ - 6½, but came back strong in the singles winning 14½ - 13½. The final result was a win for the ladies 34pts to 22pts. Of course, there were complaints from the men with outcries of unfairness in the foursomes, with the ladies having such an advantage on the red tees in the first 6 holes. Hamish will be working with James Greenall next year to try and fix the problem! “Bring it on!” I hear the ladies cry. Many thanks to Marcella Tuttle and Sarah Greenall for organising the day and all the players for joining in the spirit of the event by dressing up in their team colours. Everyone seemed to have a great day! Well done to the winning Ladies team! You can see from the ladies team photo that there were a few men at the back photo-bombing the picture! |
