We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support throughout the year. It is through your loyalty that we are able to continue growing and bringing you improved products and services. Richard, Jonny, Linda and myself all love working at the club which seems every year to go from strength to strength!

The team is extremely excited at what the New Year will bring here at The Links, especially with the long-awaited opening of the new Links Golf Lab. We look forward to welcoming you to the Lab and showing you how it can work for you and improve your golf and become a real focal point of the club. We haven’t got a firm date yet, but are looking at a mid-January launch.

So happy holidays to you and your families and we wish you a Happy Christmas and a healthy New Year!

Junior Pro Am

The junior section was out in force last Saturday afternoon playing in our very own Junior Pro Am. I was fortunate to be invited and played with Tyler Weaver, Declan Noone and George O’Shea.

Ladies get into the Festive spirit (Report by Marcella)

Lots of fun was had at the ladies' Christmas social on Tuesday this week. It was such a shame, due to the course being closed, we didn’t get to play the golf but the angelic voices and whistling tunes of the ladies’ section certainly made up for the disappointment! It was so nice to see lots of ladies congregate together to celebrate Christmas and even more entertaining to hear them whistling their way through ‘Ding dong merrily on high’ and ‘Jingle bells’. The finale of singing ‘The 12 days of Christmas 'Links' style was an eye-opening event.

Putt to the beat

Controlling the speed of your ball on the greens is key and this is the fastest way to knock shots off your score. Simply by improving your distance putting this will help you avoid the dreaded 3 putt. To help you improve your distance putting maintain a constant smooth tempo to your putting stroke. Avoid accelerating into the ball to help you control the ball to the hole. You are more likely to be able to control your length of stroke rather than the power you hit the putt with. You can use a metronome to help you control the speed of your putter better. This also applies to short putts as if the ball is moving slower you make the hole bigger. A great game to improve your distance control is the Spieth putting game, the rules are below.

'The Spieth Putting Game' involves 6 putts from 3 distances 3, 8 and 27 feet.

Average on the PGA Tour would be 27.

From 3, 8 and 27 feet the average putts are ((1.05 + 1.5 + 1.95) x 6) = 27
