Progress continues... Although we had a visit from the ‘Beast from the East’ this week, it didn’t stop Richard and I testing some of the new stock that has just arrived. Testing clubs in the Lab is a great way for us to develop product knowledge allowing for better fittings and recommendations for members. This week we put the new Callaway Rogue driver up against the Mizuno ST190. Both clubs are at the premium end of the market both in price and quality. They are seriously loaded with all the technology you would expect to maximise distance and accuracy. Richard was our test pilot and with his average clubhead speed of around 105 mph, this requires a stiff and slightly heavier shaft than is standard He currently feels that he creates too much backspin with his existing driver so this was an area he was keen to look at. Depending on your clubhead speed and shot patterns there are optimum launch angles and ball spin rates that enable you to reach optimum distance and accuracy.
