The PGA East Region along with 36 professionals and their teams came to the club this week for the annual Pro Am. The atrocious weather conditions made it a very long and difficult day for players and organisers alike with two suspensions of play during the day for thunder and lightning. The course held up incredibly well in light of the amount of rain that it took and allowed the event to finish on the day. Despite the conditions and the late finish, 8 pro's finished on a score of par or better with our own Links Assistant, Jonny Sharkey, tied for first spot with Jason Levermore from Channels GC, both with 4 under par rounds of 68. This was Jonny's first professional win and with his round which included 3 birdies and an eagle on the 13th hole won him £700 making it his biggest pay day yet.
The team event winners led by Professional Brett Taylor from Essex and including David Hone from the Links won with a 15 under par score, on count back from Jason Levermore and his team made up by locals Matt Hartley, Toby Crisp and Chris Brown. Also from the Links and in 4th spot with a score of 13 under par were Jonny's team, Sarah Greenall, Sarah Reardon and Gill Andrews.
A big thank you to the PGA East region and all The Links staff that helped make this such a successful day.
