View from The Links Golf Lab This week’s swing thought from the Golf Lab is about the structure of the right arm and shoulder at the top of the backswing. You may have heard of the golfing term a ‘flying right elbow’, this is where the right arm is disconnected from the upper body at the top of the backswing. The result commonly from this poor position is an over the top hand movement causing, the inconsistency of strike and direction due to the compensatory movements into impact. A simple drill to help with this is to pop a headcover under your right armpit and aim to keep it in place during your swing as best you can. The result will be more connection of the right arm to your upper bodies movement in the swing and better clubhead and face control at impact.
