Pro's news

Lockdown 2

Following the government's announcement this week sadly the Pro Shop will have to close from this Thursday until Wednesday, Dec 2nd. We were really hoping that Golf England and the PGA would be able to lobby support from the sports minister and gain a reprieve for golf courses, but alas not.  We know in the shop the impact this will have on a lot of the members who will miss their golf, exercise and the wellbeing benefits that golf brings.

During the last lockdown your Pro Shop Team was able to keep in touch with members through our Pro Shop newsletter and again  Lee, Richard, Jonny and myself are all looking forward to providing entertaining and relevant content to keep you entertained once again through November.

Click and Collect

With Christmas just around the corner November is normally a busy month in the Pro Shop.  

Although the shop is closed we will be operating a click and collect or call and collect service. Contact me at john.sharkey@foremostgolf.com for shop sales or try our online website offering at www.Foremostgolf.com   You will be able to pick up from the pro shop by simply calling us on your arrival and we will bring your order to your car.

Last lesson before lockdown

Ironically the weather looks like it is beginning to improve once again for lockdown just like it did in March.

I had the pleasure of meeting new member Dean Willan on Wednesday this week, my last lesson before lockdown. Dean has taken advantage of the club’s temporary member scheme that has been running this year and is now looking to become a full member in January.

As part of this temporary membership scheme, the Pro Shop has offered free lessons for anyone on the scheme as a welcome to the club.

Augusta looms

A shining light for all of us in November to look forwards is the resheduled US Masters from Augusta. Lets hope its a classic Masters to lift all our spirits.From all your Pro Shop Team, stay safe and we look forwards to welcoming you all back in December.

Masters week is an exciting time for any avid golfer. It's when we get to watch our favourite golfers battle it out on one of the most iconic courses in the world. Flowers in full bloom, an array of beautiful colours, and a course in pristine condition year-after-year. Augusta National is a special place, so we thought we'd run through some of the standout Masters memories ahead of next week's showdown.


Sunday Shifts

In 1996, Greg Norman turned a six-stroke Sunday lead into a five-stroke loss to Nick Faldo. In 1978, Gary Player started the final round eight strokes behind before shooting the lowest-ever final round (64) at Augusta to claim the Green Jacket!


Fighting Spirit

Tiger’s incredible 2019 comeback win springs to mind, but Ben Hogan recovered from a terrible car crash in 1949 to win The Masters by five strokes in 1953. Ben Crenshaw’s 1995 victory came in the same week as the funeral of long-time instructor Harvey Penick. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house.

Rain, rain, go away!

We’re at the time of year when a waterproof jacket is a must out on the course, be it on your back or tucked away in your bag just in case. The last thing we want is to be soaked through and shivering, making for an uncomfortable and rather wet round.
