Holes in One this week
We have had two holes in one on the course this week the first was from Pam Fitsall a Ladies past captain in 1989 and member of some 44 years. Pam used her 5 wood at the 12th hole for her second ace in a year whilst playing with Teresa Locke. The second hole in one was from Mike Smith when playing in the Bob Scott Trophy on Wednesday. Mike struck his 9 wood into a slight breeze at the 12th hole straight into the cup the shot was witnessed by Chris Ainsworth and Derek Hulyer. Congratulations to both of you.
Ladies Spring Open success
On Tuesday the club successfully played host to over 100 ladies from all over the East region. Ladies' Captain Dianne McDonnell, and her team Lynn Lambert, Lesley Elllis ,Sarah Reardon and Anne Lowe and apologies to those ladies I've failed to mention entertained the visitors to a great fun day of golf. The shop was kept very busy, so congratulations to all involved. The Pro Shop and Greenstaff would also like to take this opportunity to thank the ladies for the lovely cakes.
Richard and Jonny have a successful week
On Monday Richard qualified for his second PGA East region order of merit event when he shot 74 at East Herts GC qualifying him for the event held at Royal Cromer in September. On the same day Jonny was at the Belfry sitting his final PGA exams at the end of his 3 year course. He passed his coaching and club fitting practical exams and is now awaiting his marks from the business, sports science and coaching papers which he will receive in July. Well done guys.
Capt Pro Challenge
I would just like to make a special mention about our game this week against ladies Vice Captain Lynn Lambert and Lesley Ellis who has taken over the position of question master in the clubs popular quiz nights.
We had a most enjoyable game and I would like to thank both Lynn and Lesley for great afternoon of golf. It was real pleasure to play against the ladies and I can see why the clubs ladies section has been doing so well in County and East region events over the last few years.
