Greetings golfers,
Last Saturday the club held its annual Charity Day for members and guests from local golf clubs around the area. This is the main fund raising event of the year with this year's chosen charities being: Red2Green, Street Sports and Citizens Advice Bureau.
The day got off to an early start with members teeing off at 7am with the last players, visitors from local golf clubs still out on the course at 6pm.We are very fortunate that each year we are able to draw from the membership a number of very experienced helpers who sell draw tickets, act as starters, run the BBQ and encourage golfers to give generously to the chosen charities. The total monies raised still hasn't been counted but we estimate it to be over £5000. Captains Ray Bolton and Dianne McDonnell would like to thank everyone who supported the day and are delighted with amount of money raised and will be well used by the charities chosen.
Ladies' team bow out of Mail on Sunday tournament
The ladies Mail on Sunday team put up a brave fight against Woburn in the 5th round of the tournament. Woburn fielded a very strong team (some having attended golf universities in USA) and with the added benefit of home advantage, our team found it tough going. The Duchess course is a serious challenge with the towering pine trees making each hole appear exceptionally tight and the small greens making it even more demanding. With the tournament starting with just over 2,000 clubs the Links ladies got to the last 128 clubs, which is a great achievement.
The team consisted of: Marcella Tuttle, Lynn Lambert, Sarah Reardon, Jane Monk and Sarah Greenall. Marcella Tuttle commented: "Many thanks to our supporters who came with us to caddy and cheer us on. It was a wonderful opportunity for us to play at Woburn and it's a day we won't forget in a hurry. We'll be back next year fighting our way through each round with the aim of trying to get even further in the tournament".

All entrants will receive FREE of charge sleeve of golf balls from the Srixon range as part of their entry to the medal. We are one of only 75 clubs up and down the country who have been chosen and I have to thank Foremost Golf for their part in being chosen.
