Links Pro-Am
Last Saturday afternoon saw the first in the series of our Links Pro Am's. I would like to thank nine of our fairly new members for their support in getting this event off and running. The competition was played over 10 holes with Richard, Jonny and myself partnering 3 members each. The winning team of Adam Dyer, Glenn Lambert, Henry Drake and Jonny won with a score of 10 under par. It turned out to be a most enjoyable afternoon's golf and for a couple of members it was the first time they had ever played in a competition. Our next Pro Am will be in April and this time we will be inviting ladies from the Silver handicap division to join us. Once again thank you to all our competitors.
Pro's Saturday Club- Starts on Saturday.
Two major events happen this Saturday 29th March. British Summer time starts with the clock going forward on Saturday night and The Pro's Saturday Club begins. The Saturday club is an opportunity for members to meet up and play a friendly 10 holes every Saturday at 1.30pm. No handicaps are required to play just come along to the Pro Shop and we will fix you with a game. As the Saturday Club each week develops hopefully it will lead to the opportunity for members to get cards marked for handicap purposes. If you are at a loose end this weekend then please come and join us.
Annual Ladies v Nags Match
On Thursday 13 March the Ladies and the Nags met up for their annual challenge match, the start of which was unfortunately delayed due to thick fog. Two hours and several cups of coffee later the sun did show itself and the match was able to get underway. The two Captains had given their pairings a great deal of consideration which lead to very closely contested match with a result of 3 ½ -2 ½ in the NAGS favour. All players agreed they had had a most enjoyable game and the Ladies Captain, Lesley Duncan-Edge was delighted to present Peter Ridgeon (Nags Captain) with the trophy.

Club Fitting - FREE Club Assessment.
We have been busy at the club fitting over the last few weeks with a number of members taking advantage of the FREE club fitting service we offer at the Links Pro Shop. One of the most important aspects when it comes to advising golfers at a successful club fitting is the initial assessment before a ball is even hit. In the assessment we take a very close look at the golfers existing clubs and how suitable or not they are for them. We then find out as much as possible about the player themselves, how often do they play, what is their general fitness like and what are their own perceived strengths and weaknesses. Time and time again it is surprising what can come from this discussion and how helpful it can be in reaching a satisfactory outcome when recommending the correct type of club. Book a fitting and I guarantee you will learn a lot about how you play the game and more importantly how you might upgrade a club or clubs and hit the ball better. Have great week on the Links and Happy Mother's Day to all our mum's this Sunday!
