Links Pro's qualify for PGA National Fourball Championships

Jonny and I qualified this week for the PGA National Fourball Championships at Carden Park Golf Club in Cheshire. Playing the regional finals at Bush Hill Park GC Enfield we shot a betterball score of 65 (5 under par) which got us into a tense playoff with 8 pairs competing for 4 spots. After 4 holes in the play off, Jonny made a birdie at the tough Par 5 18th hole at Bush Hill Park to seal our spot. Twelve pairs qualified from a field of 65 and we will be representing the Links GC in the National finals where a Prize fund of £33000 is up for grabs.

US Open starts this week 

The US Open gets under way this week at Chambers Bay Golf Club, which is only 10 years old and on the West Coast of America. It is the first time the event has been played at this venue which has been described by the players as something a little different than they are used to at a US Open. The links style challenge this week will make driving and long range putting vital for success and in terms of forecasting a winner it is going to be very difficult. Titleist are celebrating the fact that they have had the number one played ball at the US Open for 67 years and to mark the occasion they have produced a limited stock of Pro V1 balls with the identification number of 67 marked on them.
