Captains Week 

The Captains Summer Ball this evening, kicks off a busy time for the club and I would like to wish Ray and Dianne a very enjoyable and successful week. The marquee is up and around 150 members and guests will come to the Ball this evening in support of the Captains; it promises to be great night. 

The schedule for the week. 

Friday 3rd July - Captains Summer Ball 
Saturday 4th - Captains Prize for Juniors (Stableford) 
Sunday 5th - Captains Day Course Closed Play starts at 5am Presentation of Trophies 4.30pm. 
Tuesday 7th - Ladies Captains Day Course Closed

Cambridgeshire Seniors Championship 

Congratulations to John Yuill on winning The County Seniors Championship played at the Gog Magog Golf Club on Tuesday this week. 

There was a full field of 60 competitors with 9 entrants from The Links Newmarket helping to make it another successful Championship for CAGU. The course was in great conditions with fast running fairways and quick greens. 

Over the Old Course John got his round off to a very solid start, and was only 1 over par after 11 holes and even allowing for 3 dropped shots over the demanding last 4 holes at the Gog’s, his 5 over par 75 was good enough to win. 

Mike Wood, a past Captain at The Links made it a clean sweep for the club winning the handicap category with a gross 79 nett 70. Well done to you both.

Teresa Locke - Ladies Winner Cambs & Hunts Division 2 County Meeting 
Top spot for Teresa at Meridian Golf Club

Newmarket’s Teresa Locke took top spot in the Cambs and Hunts Division 2 meeting played at Meridian Golf Club. The competition started in overcast conditions and a blustery wind and made playing conditions difficult. Despite this Teresa played some excellent golf to record a nett score of 72 to claim the Audrey Nicole Cup. She said that she had enjoyed playing the course which was in excellent condition.
