The Open Championship 

The Open Championship takes place this week and promises to be very competitive. Due to the ill-timed football kick about by Rory the world's top golf event has been robbed of its current best player. My tip for the week is Louis Oosthuizen a previous winner at St Andrews and a player who has been showing good form this season. He is priced at 22/1 with my only concern for him being the distraction of being paired with Tiger over the first two rounds. 

Another player who I think might do well particularly if the weather is not too good is Shane Lowry from Ireland. He gained a lot of experience with his good performance at last year's Open at Hoylake plus his top ten finish last month at the US Open. He has got a taste of what is needed to do well in a Major and he could go well again. Whatever happens though I'm sure it will be a great Open and the Old Course will come up with a worthy winner, however it will be uncomfortable viewing for Rory and his sponsors Nike.

Bob wins Seniors Championships 

Bob Mcallister won the Links GC Seniors Championships last Thursday with a 5 over par 77. Bob won by 5 shots from John Durman in second spot over a fast and bouncy Links course. Bob had a setback early on in his round at the 4th hole with a triple bogey 8 but he didn't let that affect him and continued to play virtually par golf for the rest of the round. Well played Bob many congratulations on your win.

   

John has his first ace! 

Congratulations to John Blacklock on his first Hole in One last week. John holed his tee shot at the 9th hole last Thursday using his hybrid. Well done John the first of the many!

The world doesn't stand still and that is very true in the golf trade. This week I was shown the fashion ranges for Spring Summer 2016 for Under Armour for men and also the very best in ladies fashions as well. I was amazed to find out how organised the manufacturers are with their ranges, so much so that Jordan Spieth's last day outfit at next years US Open for Under Armour has already been decided, should he make the cut. I also have to report that the styles colours and quality continue to improve year on year. Under Armour clothing is not just stylish but technically efficient in both hot and cold weather making it the best golf wear on the market.
