Sarah wins her 6th Club Championship 

Congratulations to Sarah Greenall on winning the Ladies Scratch Club Championship's after a sudden death play off on Tuesday. After 36 holes Jess Dixon and Sarah couldn't be split having both shot gross159 for the two rounds. A play off then ensued Sarah the title. 

This was Sarah's 6th title with her first back in 1998. Well done Sarah. There was a good turn out by the ladies and congratulations to everyone who took part. See below the other category winners.

British Seniors Open 

I had a great day out this week when I went along to Sunningdale to support Andrew George the Pro at Ely City GC who qualified to play in the Seniors Open.Andrew and I have been good friends from our days when we were assistant professionals together. 

It was great to watch a few of the past legends of the game play including Tom Watson, Bernhard Langer and Colin Montgomerie to name a few. If you have some time on your hands over the weekend it is definitely worth a visit if only to view the spectacular Sunningdale golf course.

PING Launch new equipment 

PING are launching two clubs on the 1st August the PING i and the G-Max irons. The PING i is aimed at the lower handicap golfer looking to control trajectory and the G-Max, in my opinion, one of their most forgiving clubs to date. There are quite a few technical improvements to both irons with regard to how they have positioned the weight in the heads of each club but to me the most important aspect is they have increased the number of shaft options that will suit all golfers. 

   

We now have 5 different shafts that vary in weight and also vary in launch angle capabilities. With our experience in club fitting we will be able to help the golfer choose the correct shaft for their swing speed and launch capabilities, heavy shafts suiting faster swing speeds then a selection of lighter ones for slower ones. The agent for PING showed me the new clubs last week with the news of a Fitting Day hopefully in August but also that we will be receiving our demo packs any day soon. Mens Club Championships 

This Sunday is the mens turn for their Club Championships, with the Scratch and Reynolds Salver (Handicap) competitions being played. This year the 36 hole competition has attracted over 70 competitors and promises to be a very open competition with no obvious players in standout form. The course will be closed for play but members are welcome to come and spectate and watch some of the clubs best golfers.
