As I mentioned last week in the newsletter the PGA Golf Trade show was to be held this week at Harrogate Conference Centre.
It is the 11th consecutive year that it has been held at this venue and during this time it has evolved into the biggest show of its kind in Europe. The event is packed with PGA educational seminars and trade meetings whilst also offering the manufacturers the opportunity to launch and display their new products ahead of next years golf season.
In another way this week it is the end of an era because, as always, I attended the show accompanied by Ian Bamborough, Head Professional from The Gog Magog GC (pictured here). Ian is retiring at the end of November and I would like to wish him best wishes for a long and happy retirement.
New stocking and innovations from the Golf Show
Big Max Trolleys and Bags Big Max trolley and bag company have a superb new 3 wheel push trolley with a 360* rotational front wheel allowing for efficient ease of use and manoeuvrability. They also have a new performance waterproof cart bag which makes the bag rain covers that we use now totally redundant. The colours of the bags are designed to match in with their new cart offering a very stylish look to both.
FootJoy Shoe Fitting FootJoy golf shoes, the only company in golf who offer a comprehensive range of sizes and width fittings are taking their fitting service to a new level next year. They will now be providing a bigger and better service for the Pro Shop to help those of us with problem size and fit requirements.
Starting next Spring 2016 in store we will now be able to offer the golfer a wider selection of fitting shoes than ever before.
Simulator I also took the time to visit one of the launch monitor stands to demonstrate their latest offerings. You will have seen the same one used by Sky Sports during their golf presentations. When you hit a shot the high performance camera relays in precise detail the full tracking of your shot onto screen. It is totally accurate and ideal for coaching and club fitting.
To demonstrate the product they ran a nearest the pin competition to show how real and accurate the information was. They set the hole up at 167 yards in length with a 10 mph wind into your face plus over water. I needed a 5 iron for the shot in hand and although I got on to the leader board I didn't trouble the leader.
