Congratulations to Peter Bush our Club Chairman who had a hole in one this week. Peter achieved his ace whilst playing in a society day out at Essex Country Club. The unusual thing about this hole in one was that the hole usually played as a par 4 but due to conditions a temporary tee was in place reducing the hole to just 150 yards in length. Peter used his 6 iron for the shot making it his 4th hole in one in 30 years of playing the game. Very well played Peter.
One other hole in one to report this week comes from junior member Max Weaver who at 12 years of age holed at the 17th at The Links. Max used his 3 wood for the shot hitting a controlled left to right cut shot straight into the cup. Well played Max.
PING Fitting Day
Last Friday we held our very own PING Fitting Day which was well supported by the members.
The complete range was available for demonstration and Morgan our PING technician was on hand to custom fit 8 members personally. A big thank you to all for your support.
Junior Charity Day - Friday 30th October
This Friday will be Junior Charity Day and this year it is to be organised by Jack Nunn our junior vice-captain. The event will be raising funds for Cancer Research, I'm sure you will agree a very worthy cause. Jack has managed to get over 50 members participating in what promises to be a great day. There will be 16 teams of three formed by a member from each of the junior, ladies and men's sections of the club. The weather looks like it is going to be kind so we are looking forward to a really enjoyable day and wish Jack lots of luck in raising funds for his chosen charity.
Brocket Hall
I had a great day out this week at Brocket Hall Golf Club with Captain Ray Bolton and soon to be Vice Captain Kevin McDonnell from the club. Although Brocket Hall is in administration it is home to two premier golf courses of the UK, The Palmerston and The Melbourne. Both courses having been named after previous Prime Ministers who had connections with the Hall.
Although quite expensive to play both courses are a real treat for any golfer with fantastic lay outs and even at this time of year in exceptional condition. If you are looking for somewhere special to go for a break then I can recommend staying at the Hall and playing both courses, definitely one to consider. If you would like more information then either contact me at the shop or look on Golfbreaks.com website. Remember to tell them though that John sent you!!!
