Hello golfers,

Captain and Professional

Ray and Richard off to Turkey!

Next Monday Captain Ray Bolton and Assistant Professional Richard Childerley are flying off to represent the club in the PGA National Captain/Pro Finals being played at The PGA Sultan Course at Belek in Turkey. A number of members are joining them on the trip either to caddy or to offer their support on this amazing achievement. Members Malcolm Simmons, Tony Havers, Tony Bovington, Carolyn Bolton and both Richards's parents make up the party and are all taking the opportunity to take in a little late winter sunshine.

The event is played over 36 holes over the PGA Sultan course which hosted a Word Championship event last year won by Justin Rose. Ray and Richard are one of ten pairs competing in the finals with all pairs having qualified for the event through their area finals earlier in the year.

Good luck to all, we all hope you have a great trip.

9th TeeStag Dinner Competition

I spent a most enjoyable Sunday morning in the company of playing partners Doug Misson, Chris White and Michael Tebbutt in the Stag Dinners Fourball last weekend. With winds gusting up to around 40mph the golf was very interesting to say the least.

The competition was won by Barry Peak and Duncan Taylor with an amazing 38 points in the conditions and was two clear their nearest challengers.

Juniors vs. Gents Match

The annual match between the Men and the Juniors for the Ennion Spoons played last Saturday again proved to be highly competitive. With many of the Juniors improving their game throughout the year, Juniors Captain Jordy Allen was hoping for a good win especially with support from the County Junior Champion David Marris and Teddy Hall, Junior Open Handicap Champion.

The match had to be reduced to ten holes due to the adverse weather conditions which intervened after a few holes and bought heavy rain and wind as well as cold to the Links. Nevertheless there was keen competition and at the end of the day, the Men escaped with a narrow victory by 4 & 2. Club Captain Ray Bolton upon receiving the trophy congratulated the juniors on their performances this year and expressed thanks to Jonny Sharkey, Junior Organiser for his organisation and motivation of the juniors.

New look to the Pro Shop

Many of you will have noticed that we have had a shop refit this week. Carpenter and Links member Paul Bunting has been helping us make better use of our space and hopefully improve the facility for members and guests.

Busy at Work     Change is coming

Pictured above, Paul hard at work creating the new look.

I would like to thank all members for all their words of advice through the week when passing by, although I noticed not many offered to help!!! When you are next up at the club please pop in and see what we have done. I would also like to thank Paul for his hard work this week and if you are ever in need of a carpenter I can thoroughly recommend his work.
